Coverage across all types of media, international recognition and acknowledgement throughout the entire sector - This year's Browser Game of the Year awards have out-shined all previous awards. From January 20th to February 10th our jury and tens of thousands of players have been participating in the event. Which game can claim one of the sought after awards? Read on for the answers....

Browser Game of the Year 2008

The West
InnoGames

The wild-west adventure was by far the most impressive game we came across this year thus convining the jury with an astonishing overall package.

Best Concept

The West
InnoGames

The solid mix of an out-of-the-way setting paired with a flood of absorbing role-play elements helped The West to secure yet another of 2008's awards.

Best Graphics
Gilfor's Tales
sodigital

And once again sodigital manages to secure the best graphics award. Gilfor's Tales is their latest coup and is already queueing up with it's predecessor Arthic.

Technical Achievement Award (Use of Technology)

Zaar
Gametank

Glittering particles, accompanied by thrilling sounds, fluid animations and a professional editor. To make a long story short: Gametank was able to bring Flash to it's limits which is why Zaar is the jury's first choice in terms of technical use.

Best Gameplay

The West
InnoGames

And again The West... The potpourri of quests and actions were as convincing as the innovative and fresh game design. The West manages to secure the "Best Gameplay" award and once again confirms it's extraordinary quality.

Best Story

Verschwörung in Ferdok
Chromatrix

The German single player adventure from the black eyed world was able to convince the jury the most where the story is concerned. No wonder since a whole group of professional authors have teamed up to spice up this game.

Best Action Game

Quake Live
id Software

Quake is probably one of the most successful brands in the multiplayer gaming business. But it is not so much about names as it is about a smashing action-packed experience. This is why Quake Live has taken a shine to our jury when it comes to action.

Best Strategy Game

Khan Wars
XS Software

Khan Wars latest 2.0 version would have been another great winner where graphics and overall presentation are concerned thus making it the jury's favorite strategy game.

Best Sports Game

Ballersunited
Northworks

It doesn't always have to be football or soccer is probably what the jury thought while declaring Ballersunited to 2008's best sports game.

Best RPG

The West
InnoGames

Cowboy and Apache, a variety of quests or versatile jobs and tasks. The winner is, once again, The West.

Best Business Sim

Howrse
Owlient

Breeding your own horses, and manage your own equestrian center are only two of the goals within Howrse. As simple as it may appear Howrse provides an ingenious mixture of gameplay, graphics and fun simply forcing the jury to announce it the Best Business Sim of 2008.

Best Casual Game

Wauies
upjers

It's once again for the creative masterminds at upjers to show how to design a brilliant PBBG. A brilliant idea, paired with nice graphics and the right amount of cuteness - drumroll, the best casual game!

Innovative Studio Award (Best Newcomer)

farbflut
Pennergame

The game itself has already been around a year longer, but farbflut entertainment was founded in 2008 and took the German market by storm.

Best Hobby Project

TowerWars

And last but not least of the jury categories: Best Hobby Project. Probably the most favorite category of the editorial staff, allowing small games to step up to the big players.

Let's finish of with the arguably most important prizes: The Community Award was split into three sub-categories.

Community Award Large Games
(above 10.000 players)

Howrse

Howrse was able to not only convince the jury, but leave a big impression with the audience, too. Top flight in our "big player" category.

Community Award: Medium Games
(around 10.000 players)

Dragosien - Land der Drachen

The German game Dragosien - Land der Drachen now has to give thanks to it's community for winning the Community Award for "medium sized games".

Community Award: Small Games
(around 1.000 players)

NeaGora

Surely there are a lot more players to be coming to this game: The German NeaGora has won the "small game award".
